Symbolism
In the book Crossed on the cover page it's a picture of
Cassia (the main character) breaking out of a glass ball. The glass ball in my
opinion represents the government and the control that it has over her and her
society around her. In the first book of the trilogy Matched she is sitting in
the ball peacefully and in Crossed she is breaking out and I think that, that
was a way to show that Cassia is done with the government controlling
everything that she does, who she marries, when she dies, and what job they do.
She is done and rebelling and in order to do that she needs a group of people
and most importantly Ky.
Cassia was matched up with Xavier her best friend and she
couldn't be more happy but then she met Ky and her mindset changed she loved Ky
and not Xavier and I think that's also another why she is rebelling she
believes that you should be able to marry whoever you chose to marry, have a
job you want to have, and die when the time is right for you and not just
because the government thinks you should and have reached your
"time".

I think the cover of the books really help to emphasis their points.
ReplyDeletei remember reading this book last year, is the sequel as good as the first? i also like how you connected the covers to the content in the book.
ReplyDeleteI think that you are right about the symbolism behind the covers, but you said this was a trilogy. What does the third and final cover stand for ? Or what is the symbolism behind it?
