In my book the government has a strong hold  on the society. From my understanding I get how they could do something like that but what I don't understand or get it is how can the people of the society let it happen. There is about 10 times the amount of civilians in their society yet they do nothing. Absolutely nothing. From where I currently am in my book there isn't much hope that Cassia and Ky will meet and rebel against the government.

My  prediction for this book is that they will find each other but at the really end and then they wont start standing up for themselves and their society until the third book of the trilogy Reached. For me I don't want it to be like that  because you would literally spend the whole time reading the book but nothing happens they just keep looking and looking. So hopefully the book doesn't end up like that and the author Ally Condie, if it is that way makes it so your not bored of it.

                                         Characterization

So far the characters in my book are well developed because of the first book of the trilogy. So I know the characters pretty well. The difference in this book compared to the first is that Cassia and Ky are more bold and dangerous and riding along the border line of things. Everyone else in the society is very much about doing the right thing and following the rules. As I'm reading you notice that they get riskier and more dangerous then they ever have before, just so they could be together. Ally is very good at describing the characters emotions and feeling. So you understand the thoughts going through their heads and it almost makes you feel as if you were them or right there.

Symbolism

In the book Crossed on the cover page it's a picture of Cassia (the main character) breaking out of a glass ball. The glass ball in my opinion represents the government and the control that it has over her and her society around her. In the first book of the trilogy Matched she is sitting in the ball peacefully and in Crossed she is breaking out and I think that, that was a way to show that Cassia is done with the government controlling everything that she does, who she marries, when she dies, and what job they do. She is done and rebelling and in order to do that she needs a group of people and most importantly Ky.
Cassia was matched up with Xavier her best friend and she couldn't be more happy but then she met Ky and her mindset changed she loved Ky and not Xavier and I think that's also another why she is rebelling she believes that you should be able to marry whoever you chose to marry, have a job you want to have, and die when the time is right for you and not just because the government thinks you should and have reached your "time".
