What made me want to read this book is probably the struggle that she goes through. I know that's kind of weird but books like this interest me because I know the feeling of struggle as a teenager. My sister also read this book and loved it so I had to read it. I made some personal connections between the book but not a lot. This book made you feel as if you were there with her experiencing these things with her and that's what I loved about it. The author made it very personal which makes me think something like this either happened to her or happened to someone she knows. Throughout the entire book it was never boring you always wanted to turn to the next page. The book was sad and all but it makes you feel apprecitative for what you have.
I would recommend this book to someone who likes a book with sad and some happy moments or if you experienced depression it could be a good book to make you feel like your not the only who has been through this. This book showed to not be afraid to communicate and tell someone something you think is bad but really in the end your only hurting yourself by not communicating no matter how shameful and embarrassed you feel.

Entry Two
I think Melinda wants this burden off of her chest but she is too scared and ashamed to tell anyone. She expresses her feelings through her art work. One of the themes in this novel is isolation. I think isolation is one of the main one becomes throughout the book Melinda doesn't talk to anyone about what happened to her at that party. Distances herself from everyone including her parents. Considering that that guy who raped her goes to her school she doesn't talk to anybody. All of her friends that she had in the middle school left her because they think shes a tattle tale like the rest of the school. I think that she also wants to not be the outcast she wants to fit in with everybody else and I can relate to that feeling and I think any teenager has felt that way sometime throughout their high school career.
Guilt and Blame is another theme that I notice in this novel. As Melinda is telling us how she feels and what she is thinking you can tell that she feels shame about what happened at that party and she blames herself for what happened almost like she had it coming for her. The author makes you feel the pain and burden that she is carrying and that's what I like about this book it's so realistic feeling.
Entry One
In the book Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson, the main character is a girl name Melinda Sordino who starts her Freshman year of high school really rough. During the summer before her freshman year she was raped by a senior at a party and she was drunk and confused so she called the cops and everyone thought that she called the cops to break up the party. So everyone in the high school thinks of her as a tattle tale, but no one knows what really happened. She carries the burden of this alone, confused and inwardly tortured.
I'm wondering if Melinda will ever have the courage to tell her parents or someone what really happened that night. The setting of this book takes place Syracuse, New York where actually the author lives. Most of the book in Melinda's thoughts and feelings and it let's you get to know her more as a person and what she is going through. It really shows the struggle and makes you feel as if you were there with her along this journey. With all the jargon used in this novel I think it takes place in the late 1990's. This book for me so far is good and I hope that eventually she will be able to tell someone what actually happened so she can live happily without this heavy burden.

I'm reading Fault in Our Stars now and I love it! The relationship between Augustus and Hazel is so cute and adorable. Their interest in reading books, and how Augustus gave up his wish so that Hazel can go to Amsterdam and meet the author of her favorite book is so sweet. This book shows the characters really well. The author is very descriptive. The book never gets boring.
I can't wait to see the movie in a couple of days since I like the book so much. This is the first book in a while that I actually like. I had to stop reading Crossed because it got really boring for me. I lost interest and just couldn't read it at all. This book I literally read 200 pages in 1 day.

Since Cassia is in the Abberation group, I think that there is a higher chance of her finding Ky than there is if she stayed on the camp where she should really be since she isn't an Abberation. If Cassia doesn't find Ky I don't think that it will be a good book or story line and then I can officially say that the first book is better than this one. Comparing Matched to Crossed is a major difference, Ally Condie I felt was more descriptive in the first one then Crossed and I think she should of just got to the point in this book so it doesn't drag on like it is. It gets really boring. I don't think that I will be reading her 3rd book because of this one. Which sucks because I know that her first one was so good. It was one of my top 3 books that Ive liked.
Ally Condie writing style hasn't changed I don't think. It's the events that she has occur that keep you bored. You could tell when she would try to catch you off guard and think about how something could effect someone or something but she would just drag it on and on and on to the point where you had already figured it out by then.

My reading this week I found out that the blue pills that Xander gave to Cassia to help her find Ky doesn't give them extra days to live. It actually keeps them where they are until they are just left there to die. The problem with that is that Cassia has no idea that that's what they do. I have a feeling that s she will take them on her way to find Ky and hopefully Ky will find her before it's too late for her.
The characters in my story have changed since the last book. Especially Xander he seems more like Ky. He speaks his mind whether it hurts someone or not. The reason that I think he is like that is because Cassia left him for another guy and he had feelings for her and not only did he lose his match but he lost his friend when she left Oria (society she used to live in) she left him, all alone.

My book is told in first person point of view. The two narrators are Cassia and Ky an Abberation. Every chapter it goes starting off with Ky and then Cassia and then it continues to alternate throughout the book. Throughout this novel you feel the love and connection that Cassia and Ky have together even when their apart. However Xander is Cassia's match that she was paired up with from the government.
I'm interested in how Cassia and Ky are going to be together if Cassia has already been paired up with Xander. From where I am in the book I predict that they still won't find each til the very end and that Cassia will learn new things about the government that has been kept secret from the society.
(This picture shows the desperation and love that Cassia and Ky have
for each other and how their trying to find each other)
